The other night, I attended a charity event with some friends. It was for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. It was incredible. First, here is a little history about it. I just feel like everyone should know what they are doing here in Utah and how remarkable it is.
Huntsman Cancer Foundation's sole purpose is to fund the mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute: to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care.
My friend works for a diamond company that donated to this event, so she got a table, and that is how I got to go . The theme was "Hope on the Range," cowboy themed held at the Grand America Hotel. It was so fun. There were people there that I never thought I would meet. People were donating left and right. It was amazing to see. I think they raised in one night over $500,000. There were 2 auctions. One a silent one and the other with a real auctioneer. You know, talking all fast. That was pretty cool to see. I met some great people. I met Elder Ballard, and Elder Scott. It was neat to see them in a normal setting and helping out with this cause. Here are so pics from the night.
Yes, we got to take the sweet center pieces home.
This was the Auctioneer. I couldn't even understand him when he did his thing...
What is a cowboy theme without Rodeo Queens? The thing I found amazing about them is they were sporting all leather. Yes their entire dresses were made out of real leather. Can we say hot and sticky.
We make such cute cowgirls.

Cute cowgirls! I'm excited you're involved in some really awesome things!
You guys need to come visit us before it gets cold or at least next summer. You would love it here! There are so many fun things to do and the city has so much character! We're going to be in UT for Thanksgiving so hopefully I can see you then, if not sooner.
Miss ya!
Hi Kristen! This is Heidi Farnsworth Ainge. It was so fun to see you at the Gala. I wish I was as optimistic as you are about those functions. Typically we are forced to go but yes, it was for a good cause and the western theme was fun! I was so exciting to read your enthusiasm about running. Today was my first run in 10 months! I have a five week old baby and I don't run during pregnancy. Anyway I would love to come run with you along the river! My blog is private so if you want you can email me and I will invite you so we can maybe get together some time. My email... ainge2@gmail.com
